An online restaurant menu and QR code with AI, no coding

Have ChatGPT or Claude write a bilingual menu, paste it into BrewInTH's Upload and go live page and print a table QR code that survives every price change.
Plenty of restaurants still hand out paper menus that stain easily and have to be reprinted every time a price changes. Others post a photo of the menu on their page, which visitors from abroad cannot read and nobody enjoys zooming into on a phone. An online menu that guests open by scanning a QR code at the table fixes both.
This guide builds an online restaurant menu with a QR code using a chat AI such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, without installing any coding tools. You copy the AI's answer into BrewInTH's Upload and go live page, the platform puts it online, and you turn the address into a QR code for the tables.
In short
✅ An online menu is a static site: no database, fine on the free plan, and it never goes to sleep, so it opens fast after a scan
✅ Gather the menu details first, then use the prompt in this guide
✅ Create a project, pick a site name, and paste the AI's answer into Upload and go live (a BETA feature)
✅ Make the QR code from the site address; it stays the same however often you edit the menu
✅ When prices change, have the AI edit the menu and send the complete set of files to the same site
Why an online menu suits a small restaurant
- Change prices yourself in minutes, no reprinting
- Thai and English on one page, with a language switch for visitors
- Easy to read on a phone: large text, no zooming into photos
- No database or back office: the menu is a plain web page (HTML), simple to make and hard to break
On BrewInTH this kind of site is a static site. Its files go straight to visitors and there is no app process to run, so the free plan's sleep rule does not apply: guests can scan at any time and the menu opens at once.

Step 1: Gather the menu details
The AI cannot guess your menu. The more complete your notes, the fewer fixes later. Plain text in a notes app is enough:
- Restaurant name, address, opening hours, phone or LINE
- Menu sections, e.g. rice dishes, soups and curries, drinks, desserts
- Dish names, prices and English names if you have them (if not, let the AI translate and check the result)
- Labels such as spicy, vegetarian, recommended, sold out
- Colours or mood, e.g. warm wood tones or your brand colour
The examples below use a made-up restaurant called "Krua Baan Suan".
Step 2: Create a project on BrewInTH
- Sign up at brewinth.com. The free plan includes one project, enough for one restaurant's menu.
- In the console, open Upload & go live.
- Under 1. Choose the project, click Create a new project (name and address).
- Name the project and choose a free site name such as
baansuan. The menu will live atbaansuan.host.brewinth.net.
The free site name is set once, and it is the address your QR code will carry. Pick something short, memorable and close to the restaurant's name.
Step 3: Let the chat AI write the menu
Open ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and paste this prompt, replacing the details with your own:
Build a restaurant menu website that guests open by scanning a QR code at the table. It must work well on phones.
Restaurant: Krua Baan Suan, open daily 10:00-21:00, phone 08x-xxx-xxxx, LINE @baansuan
Sections and dishes (Thai / English / price in baht):
- Rice dishes: ข้าวกะเพราหมูสับ / Stir-fried pork with holy basil / 60
- Rice dishes: ข้าวผัดปู / Crab fried rice / 90
- Soups and curries: ต้มยำกุ้ง / Tom yum goong / 150 (spicy)
- Drinks: ชาไทยเย็น / Thai iced tea / 40
(list every dish)
Requirements:
- One page with a section bar at the top; tapping a section scrolls to it
- A Thai / English switch on the same page
- Large, readable text, clear prices, labels for "spicy", "recommended" and "sold out"
- Warm wood colours; no fonts or scripts loaded from other sites
- Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript only, main file named index.html
- No database and no ordering system
The AI answers with code. Many chats can show a preview, so look at it first and ask for changes (colours, section order) until you like it.
When you are happy, go to Upload and go live and open the Paste from a chat AI tab. It has a ready-made message to copy. Paste that message into the same chat and the AI sends every file back in a format BrewInTH can read (each file starts with a line like === FILE: index.html ===).
Step 4: Paste and go live
- On Upload and go live, choose the project you created in step 1.
- Under 2. Hand over the site's files, choose Paste from a chat AI.
- Copy the AI's whole answer into the box.
- Click the button to release into that project and watch the progress bar.
The platform reads the files, sees index.html and publishes a static site on its own. When it is done, open the link on your phone: tap every section, switch languages and check every price.
The page is still in BETA. If something gets stuck, use Talk to the team on the same page.
What about food photos?
A pasted chat answer cannot carry pictures. For photos, put the site files and an images folder into one ZIP and use the ZIP file tab instead (up to 256 MB). Tell the AI "use the photos in images/, named after each dish" so the code points at the right files.
Keep an eye on size: the free plan has 20 MB of storage, and a phone photo can be several MB. Shrink photos first to roughly 800-1200 px wide and save them as WebP or medium-quality JPEG, a few hundred KB each. Guests get a faster menu too.
Step 5: Make the QR code for the tables
A QR code is a picture that holds a link. Guests point their phone camera at it and the menu opens.

The easiest way is to ask the AI in the same chat:
Add a qr.html page for printing table cards.
It shows a QR code that points to https://baansuan.host.brewinth.net/
Under the QR code, show the restaurant name and "สแกนดูเมนู / Scan for menu".
Lay it out to print 6 cards per A4 sheet.
Generate the QR code with JavaScript inside the site's own files; do not load scripts from other sites.
Send every file back in the same format.
Release it to the same site again, open /qr.html and print from the browser. Any trustworthy QR tool works too, as long as the code holds the restaurant's full site address.
Before every print run, scan with two or three different phones. Print only when every phone opens the right menu.
Changing prices or dishes
The best part of an online menu is that you never reprint the QR code: the address does not change.
- Tell the AI in the same chat, e.g. "Crab fried rice is now 100 baht; add Pad Thai with prawns for 80 baht; send every file back in the same format".
- Open Upload and go live and choose the same site (it shows Update the existing site).
- Paste the whole new answer and click update.
This matters: a static site on BrewInTH is replaced by the complete new set of files on every update. A file left out of that update disappears from the site. If the first release had qr.html and the new answer forgets it, the QR page stops opening. Ask the AI for every file, every time; for a menu with photos, send a ZIP that includes all the photos every time.
Before you put it on the tables
- Prices online must match what you charge. Check after every update; the AI can mistype a number.
- English names: ask someone fluent to read them. Some Thai dishes are better transliterated than translated.
- Bandwidth on the free plan is 1 GB a month. A text-only menu uses very little; a busy restaurant with many photos should check usage in the console now and then.
- Want an address with your own name, like
menu.baansuan.com? Custom domains are available on paid plans. - Nothing secret belongs in the menu: anyone can read every file of a static site.
FAQ
Do I need Claude Code or another coding tool?
No. This guide uses only a chat AI in the browser and the Upload and go live page. If you already use a coding agent, you can also hand it the link + token and let it deploy.
Can I do this on a phone?
The Upload and go live page opens on a phone, but copying a long AI answer on a phone is error-prone. Do it on a computer, and use your phone to scan and test the menu.
Can guests order food through this menu?
The menu in this guide is view-only. Taking orders needs an app and a database, which is a bigger project. Get the view-only menu right first.
The paste was refused. What now?
Check that you copied the AI's whole answer and that there is an index.html. If it still fails, paste the message the page shows into the same chat and ask the AI, or use Talk to the team, since the feature is in BETA.
If I later buy a shorter site address, will my printed QR codes break?
No. The old address keeps opening and forwards guests to the new one. If you are printing new cards anyway, use the new address.
Summary
An online menu is an easy first website that gets used every day. Gather the menu details, let a chat AI write it, paste it into Upload and go live, and print the QR code for the tables. When prices change, have the AI edit the menu and send the complete set of files to the same site; the printed QR codes keep working.
